Wide Arches w/ Good Fortune @ BurDock MUSIC HALL
Join indie folk band Wide Arches at Burdock Music Hall, along with opening band Good Fortune.
Toronto indie-folk band Wide Arches formed during the pandemic through remote-recording collaborations and released their first album on September 12th, 2023 (with the support of the Toronto Arts Council). Weaving a tapestry of images and emotions, the lyrical content of the band is both playful and introspective, while the music displays a rich array of folk sounds and acoustic instrumentation. The band’s influences include singer-songwriter classics such as Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, Harry Nilsson and Tom Waits — as well as more contemporary folks artists like Daniel Rossen, Andy Shauf and Damien Jurado.
Good Fortune, the brainchild of Toronto/Kingston musician and songwriter Kelsey McNulty, creates a cinematic collage of sound both new and old. With an affection for the ‘60s French pop of Francoise Hardy and Serge Gainsbourg, to space pop revivalists like Broadcast and Air – McNulty delivers her intimate vocal stylings (in both English and French) over intentional layers of dreamy synth and an airtight rhythm section.
