Small World Centre, 180 Shaw Street, Toronto, ON

The debut album by indie-folk band, Wide Arches, will be released on all streaming services AND physical CD format on Tuesday, Sept. 12th! Come celebrate with us that very evening at Small World Centre.

Wide Arches is the singer-songwriter project of Toronto musician, Jacob Gorzhaltsan and was formed during the pandemic lockdowns. Over the past three years, the band has been working on a full album of remotely-recorded music, produced with the generous support of the Toronto Arts Council. They are thrilled to finally be releasing this music to the public for the first time. Playful but introspective, the melodic content of the band draws influences from early artists like Nick Drake, Harry Nillson, and Leonard Cohen, as well as more contemporary songwriters such as Andy Shauf, Daniel Rossen, and Blake Mills. With lyrics that paint vivid imagery, drawing creative inspiration from the snap-shots of day-to-day life, Wide Arches features a wide array of acoustic folk instrumentation and sounds. The band hopes you will enjoy the stories that they will be sharing, in a never-before seen format on September 12th at Small World Centre!

The evening will feature a special set of music by Toronto-based artist Prince Enoki. With new music soon to come out and another full album on the horizon, Prince Enoki will be sure to leave you mesmerized, with lush arrangements and beautiful lyricism (and a woodwind quartet to boot)! Enoki delves into chamber folk, ambient, and singer-songwriter genres, weaving together the captivating sounds of omnichord, mbira, Tuvan throat-singing, modular synth, strings, and woodwinds. Their music evokes dreams and heartfelt sentiment, drawing inspiration from Ravel, Ali Farka Touré, Laraaji, and Nick Drake. Collaborators include Laraaji, Carioca, and Jonathan Goldsmith.

The night will also feature a special opening set by Hamilton-based singer-songwriter, mystery tea (aka Evan Thompson)! With new music coming out this fall, be the first to get your sneak-preview of his new songs live and in person. His music conveys a clear connection to nature, brightness, optimism, and carries a sense of calmness. It is expressed through many themes, including love, story, perspective, reflection and wonder.

Come enjoy some wonderful music and beverages, and celebrate all the amazing new releases coming your way this September!
